Computers are an integral part of our foreign language learning process. Our school assigns each student a laptop. We use laptops as our own private language lab. One of our favorite activities is filming conversations on our computers and sharing the experience to improve on pronunciation and fluency. This activity is done in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

América del Sur Project

8th Grade started the geography project on South America by recognizing country borders to the beat of Andean music. For two weeks, the students did research on the geographical aspect, socio-economic development and cultural traits of the country of their choice. Each presentation was followed by a traditional dish, dancing and, as in the case of Suriname (Dutch Guyana), a brief dialogue in Dutch, so as to share what languages other than English or Spanish sound like. We loved this project!
